Treecreds® is proud to announce the results of the sustainability assessments conducted following the Boogie event held in Tallarook at Easter 2010.

Boogie 2010 was responsible for an estimated 35 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e). This represents an increase of 50% in emissions compared to Boogie 2009, yet patronage at this year’s festival doubled. As expected over 80% of calculated emissions were attributable to transport to and from the event. Boogie is commended for switching to cooking oil derived biodiesel to power its generators, achieving a 50% cut in emissions per litre compared to mineral diesel.

The voluntary carbon car pass offered at the Boogie gates was extremely successful, with 98% of cars purchasing 0.5 tonne of carbon for $10.00. As a result of this initiative, 87 carbon credits have been purchased and retired in the Minding the Carbon Store avoided deforestation project in Queensland.

Boogie operators purchased an additional 18 tonnes (or carbon credits) to cover the operational emissions of the event.

Treecreds® and Boogie are proud to boast that the event was not only carbon neutral, but, in fact, carbon negative!
